John Schmitz, Jr., project manager, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Mr. Schmitz has more than 15 years of civil engineering experience on a wide variety of projects. His qualifications include work in project management for various multi-site clients, site engineering and development, storm drainage, floodplain analysis, and detention system design, horizontal and vertical road alignment, subsurface sewage disposal system design and a familiarity with local and state permitting processes. Mr. Schmitz earned a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering from the University of New Haven in New Haven, CT. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Robert Braren, AIA, project manager, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Mr. Braren has 21 years experience in the profession of architecture. His diverse design and construction practice has involved a variety of office, municipal, garage, industrial, retail, hospitality, public school and housing building types. Mr. Braren earned a bachelor's of science degree in architectural engineering technology at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. He is a registered architect in Connecticut and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Scott Pellman, AIA, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Mr. Pellman, who resides in Middlebury, has more than 21 years of experience in architecture focusing primarily on the programming and design of educational and municipal facilities. His ability to communicate well with clients, project team members, and contractors translates into an impressive list of successfully completed projects. Mr. Pellman is also the director of the K-12 education design studio at BL Companies, which focuses on projects in New York City and throughout the state of Connecticut. Mr. Pellman earned a bachelor's of science degree in architectural engineering from New York Institute of Technology. He is a registered architect in Connecticut and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Peter G. Bachmann, AIA, director of architecture and engineering, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Mr. Bachmann, who resides in Ridgefield, has more than 20 years experience in all phases of design and construction for multiple project types including those for commercial, education, retail, media, financial services, preservation and telecommunications clients. His professional achievements cover various architectural disciplines, including project manager, design partner and studio director. These achievements give him unique insight into the coordination of a project and a team's responsibilities and superb client services. Mr. Bachmann earned a bachelor's of architecture degree at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. He is a registered architect in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), AIANY Committee on Architects for Education, Council of Education Facilities Planners, International, Society for College and University Planning, The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
