Radio Frequency Systems has been awarded a national supply contract with Verizon Wireless. RFS supplies Verizon with microwave antennas and coaxial cable and related equipment.. Verizon is the largest domestic wireless provider, supplying 27 million customers. RFS, formerly RFS Cablewave, opened in mid-1998. It was founded in North Haven in 1973 as a joint venture of the German Kabelmetal A.G. and Phelps Dodge Communications Co. Through a series of acquisitions, mainly in the antenna area, the company, then known as Cablewave, established itself in the wireless telecommunications marketplace, according to spokesman Alan Wulff. RFS' success is the result of the quality of its hardware, "phenomenal customer service" and education and training offered to customers, according the Mr. Wulff.
