The YMCA's winter KidArtz program is focusing on the application and techniques of mural painting. This program is open to students between ages 8 and 14. Instructor Traci DiPietro said that this was the first year that the "Y" has offered lessons in winter. Before painting the walls at the KidArtz studio, the children sketched their ideas. They also picked the colors and selected designs. The office walls are slowly changing from white to hot pink, purple and blinding orange. And, in what was originally a blank space, a purple butterfly hovers. Ms.DiPietro, an elementary school art teacher, designed the main portion of the mural. Mural painting, Ms. DiPietro also noted, teaches skills such as team effort,
