An award was granted to the Friends of the Meriden Public Library for its efforts, including the monthly public access television program "Heartbeat of the City". Marcia Trotta, Library Director, was grateful for the honor from the Friends of Connecticut Libraries. The Meriden organization has realized a large increase in membership and success in raising funds for the library. The groups plans to move their bookstore from West Main and Grove Streets to a larger facility on Colony Street, with approval expected in September.
