Thanks to the efforts of the Rotary Club, the Meriden Public Library will add a branch of the Library to the Boys and Girls Club of Meriden this fall. Armed with lots of elbow grease and a $15,000 donation, Rotarians are bringing carpeting, shelving, lighting and a ceiling to the former home of the Lions Club computer room on the second floor of the Lincoln Street building. Rotary Club President Kevin Curry noted that the room will be fully re-modeled when it opens. Marcia Trotta, the director of the Meriden Pubic Library and president-elect of the Rotary Club, said that books checked out at the Club may be returned to satellite centers at Hanover, John Barry and Nathan Hale schools as well as the main branch; two librarians will staff the new branch. Friends of the Library donations and state literacy grants will also likely support the library branch.
