Finding a great book to read has just got easier! ...

June 12, 2003

Finding a great book to read has just got easier! Meriden Public Library is introducing a new service, an Online Book Club that delivers books electronically. Each day, Monday through Friday, subscribers are emailed a portion of a book that takes about five minutes to read. People are able to read two or three chapters from a book during a week. If they are enjoying the book, they then can go to the library and check out the book. Each week new books are featured. There are seven book club selections to choose from. These include fiction, non-fiction, romance, business, good news and teen books. Audio books can also be listened to through this process. Library Director Marcia Trotta says, " this new service lets us reach out to more people in our community. It gets people reading, especially busy people who didn't think that they had the time to participate in a book club. Any Meriden resident can sign up for this free service by going to the library's web site: www.cityofmeriden.org/ municipalservices/library. They would then click on the "Chapter-a-day" icon, and will be prompted for registration information. For questions on the service, please call the Information Desk at 238-2346.
