Welcome Aboard Backpacks

David J. Salafia, Family-School Liaison Coordinator, Meriden Public Schools is excited to share this information with members of the Greater Meriden Chamber. His office is starting a program "Welcome Aboard Backpacks" - the intent is to hand deliver a backpack to every new student and family that registers at one of our 12 district schools (excluding kindergarten). Also, every new teacher and substitute teacher will receive a backpack.The pack will be filled with information from the city, BOE, non- profits, civic groups, the Chamber and other local businesses.
Suggested items that will be accepted include, but are not limited to: rulers, calendars, water bottles, mouse pads, t-shirts, hats, letter openers, bag clips, magnets, etc.
They are unable to accept items such as flyers, menus, coupons, etc.
This is intended to be a "value" gift for new students and families.
In order to further promote the program, they will also provide the backpacks for events throughout the community for raffle prizes, etc.
