Eugene Luchansky, Executive Director of the Child Guidance Clinic for Central Connecticut, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Lynch, LCSW to the position of Clinical Director. Peter comes to the Child Guidance Clinic from ALSO- Cornerstone, Inc. in New Haven where he served as the Clinical Director for the past 11 years. He directed a clinic that served a population of individual's and families experiencing mental illness, homelessness and addiction. While there he was a recipient of a grant to provide bereavement service to women and their partners who experienced pregnancy related loss. Additionally, Peter has consulted for many years with schools and communities around traumatic loss, especially teen suicide.

A licensed Clinical Social Worker, Peter holds a masters degree from the University of Connecticut where he has served as adjunct faculty for 26 years teaching courses on death and bereavement. He is also a part-time faculty member at Smith College School for Social Work. As clinical Director, he looks forward to building upon the strengths of the Child Guidance Clinic and its staff and hopes to celebrate the agencies 50th Anniversary next spring with some community training events with particular emphasis on increasing linkages to Spanish speaking families in the community.

Peter was honored with the "Social Worker of the Year "award, by the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers in 1999. He has taught classes all over the United States, Canada and Europe. His use of the arts as both a teaching aid and a means to build community was highlighted in an article about his work in the 2005 Journal of the International Eugene O'Neill Society. His expertise in the areas of substance abuse and mental health programs will greatly enhance the Clinic existing programs.
