Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could not read these words? Or speak English well enough to communicate with your child's teacher? There are thousands of adults in our area who can't. Literacy Volunteers empowers these adults by providing free small group tutoring at sites through the communities we serve.If you can READ, you can HELP!
We always need volunteers to help adults increase their reading and English speaking skills. If you are interested in being a literacy tutor, please click here to fill out and submit an application.
Training is held three times a year and tutors are asked to spend 2-4 hours a week with students. Most tutors tell us it's the best 4 hours of their week! Next training starts in September. Tutors are needed in Meriden, Wallingford, Greater New Haven and the Valley.
