Emergency Preparedness Meeting. February 13, 2020, 8:30-9:15am, 165 Miller Street Meriden Long term care and nursing care facilities are invited to a meeting to learn how they can become a closed point of dispensing (POD) partner. By partnering with public health and operating a Closed POD, during a public health emergency your staff, their family members, and your current clients can receive medications/vaccinations at your facility. A light breakfast will be served. Please RSVP by calling 203-630-4221 or emailing lcrown@meridenct.gov by Monday, February 10.

Tobacco and Electronic Cigarette Sales: Do the Right Thing Connecticut Clearinghouse created an online prevention education program for CT retailers focusing on the prevention of tobacco sales to anyone under the age of 21. This tutorial and quiz will take around 30 minutes to complete and after completing the training a certificate will be available to download. Vaping Presentations The Department is offering free presentations on vaping to community organizations. These presentations are for Meriden businesses/agencies and parent groups in Meriden. For more information or to schedule a vaping presentation please call our Youth and Family Program Assistant at 203-630-4239.

QPR Suicide Prevention & Narcan Training Monday, February 24, 2020 5:00- 7:00 PM, 165 Miller Street The Department is offering a QPR Suicide Prevention & Narcan Training. For more information and to register please call the Public Health Educator 203-630-4288.

Car Seat Installation Clinic Friday, February 28th 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM, 168 Chamberlain Hwy (Engine Company 2 Fire Station) This free class will teach you about car seat safety and review the current laws. Participants will get 1 free, age appropriate car seat installed (per family) or have our technicians check an existing car seat to make sure it is installed properly in your car. Open to all Meriden residents. Reservations are required - you must call Stephanie at 203-630-4223 to register.
