The winners of newspaper sponsored contests were recently announced. The Harlem Globetrotters Coloring Contest was won by Vanessa Davenport of Meriden. She received four courtside tickets and a backstage visit. Each runner-up winner received two tickets to the Globetrotters. The winners of the Academy Awards Contest 2001 were also named. The grand prize winner was Gary Krock of Meriden. He received a year's worth of movie passes plus a TV Land prize package. Five runners-up received a month's worth of movie passes and a studio prize package. Twenty-five additional winners received a family four pack of movie passes. Winners were selected by a random drawing of all correct entries. Entrants had to select the best actor, actress and picture award from this year's Academy Awards contest.
