On Wednesday, May 31st, the Y.M.C.A. honored several long-time members, including Max Muravnick, a member for 84 years; William Tracy, for 78 years; and Julius Goldberg, for 45 years. The 135th annual ceremony was held at the outdoor facility on High Hill Road and also recognized its board members, volunteers and staff. The festivities included a hot buffet served by Jim Groth, a board member who owns Mountainside Special Event Facility. Bruce Miller, Executive Director of the Y.M.C.A., described goals such as developing more arts in the downtown area, increasing more childcare options for Research Parkway, transforming the outdoor facility for year-round use, and developing the teen center. Jim Rice, Herb Edelstein and Jim Groth were also honored for their 6-year terms of service on the Y.M.C.A. Board.
