Gallery 53 of the Arts and Crafts Association of Meriden (ACAM) presents its 80th Annual Open Juried Exhibition starting October 23 through November 20. The exhibit features the work of 53 artists and crafters in many media--oils, watercolors, pastel, drawings, sculpture, photography and crafts. A reception, open to the public at no charge, will be held on Saturday, October 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. Prizes will be announced at 3 p.m. The exhibit has been judged by Michele L'Heureux, Meriden-born artist and teacher. The reception will include a performance by songwriter/singer/acoustic guitarist Kent Aldrich. His appearance has been arranged by ACAM Music Series Director Tom Mayer. The exhibit also marks the reopening of Gallery 53 after extensive renovations.

The Gallery offers classes in drawing, watercolor, oil, and pastel painting, and portraiture. On November 6, it will offer a workshop with nationally acclaimed pastelist Frank Federico. For more information, call (203) 235-5347 during Gallery hours, Tuesday through Friday, 12-4, and Saturday, 10-2. The Gallery is located at 53 Colony Street, next to Butler's Paint Store and across the street from the First Congregational Church. It is easy to reach from routes 91 and 84. There is ample parking across the street.
