As the State begins to slowly re-open from the pandemic, Meriden Rotary wishes everyone good health and prosperity. Rotary is made up of people who care about their neighbors and their community and they are still conducting business as best they can and giving back to the community.

The Meriden Rotary Club had them made and distributed to send the message that they are here to assist and that we are all In This Together. What a year! Rotary's Annual Meeting this year was held on Zoom. Outgoing President Colin Mahon turned over the reins to incoming President Leslie Kogut. Much was accomplished this past year in spite of very challenging conditions. Thank you Colin Mahon for a great year! Thank you Mary Minotti, Assistant District Governor, and Ron Webb, District Governor for attending our Zoom installation. And Congrats to everyone in the Meriden Rotary!

Congratulations to our Citizenship Award Winners! Every year Meriden Rotary awards two high school seniors with Awards to recognize their amazing achievements. They are usually invited to Rotary's Annual Dinner to receive their awards but our dinner did not happen this year due to Covid-19.. This year the Dan M. Hunter Award has been presented to Haley Peacock - O.H. Platt High School and the Joseph Barker Award has been presented to Madison Manke - Francis T. Maloney High School. They have both achieved high grade averages, have participated in many extra-curricular activities and have embraced a dedication to volunteerism. Congratulations to these two of inspirational young people.

Clean Water Donald Thomas, president of the West Haven Rotary Club spoke at our recent Zoom meeting about a water and sanitation project they are spearheading in Uganda. Rotary International Speaks Out Against Racism In light of the most recent events across the Country, Rotary International, has released the following statement: "At Rotary, we have no tolerance for racism. Promoting respect, celebrating diversity, demanding ethical leadership, and working tirelessly to advance peace are central tenets of our work. We have more work to do to create more just, open and welcoming communities for all people. We know there are no easy fixes and that challenging conversations and work lie before all of us. Rotary's strength has long been our ability and commitment to bringing people together. We will tap into that strength now as we stand with those who are working for peace and justice. Rotary will do our part to listen, learn and take action to ensure that we continue to contribute to making positive change."

High School Graduations The Covid-19 Pandemic has had a huge impact on many aspects of our lives. Our work, our schools, our businesses, and our social lives have been affected. High School seniors finished their classes online, had no traditional senior year events and no formal graduation ceremonies. Meriden Rotary wanted to recognize their hard work and accomplishments and had banners printed for each of the Meriden high schools and had them hung up outside the schools. Congratulations to all the graduating seniors!
