Webster Bank has recently announced that it plans to close its branch at 834 Broad Street and move operations to 652 East Main Street, beginning August 21st; however, a drive-up automatic teller machine will continue to operate at the old location. According to John Carusone, president of the Bank Analysis Center in Hartford, with the acquisition of four BankBoston branches, Webster Bank is continuing with its goal to become a statewide financial institution, principally through the purchase of their banks and branches.
