BL Companies Received 2010 Innovations in Employee Ownership Award

BL Companies, Inc. is the recipient of the 2010 Innovations in Employee Ownership Award presented by the National Center for Employee Ownership and the Beyster Institute at UC San Diego's Rady School of Management at the 2010 Employee Ownership Annual Conference held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Innovations in Employee Ownership Award was created in 2006 to recognize companies that develop practices that make employee ownership a stronger and more effective business strategy. The awards are made possible by a generous grant from TEOCO, an employee-owned consulting and IT solutions company in Fairfax, Virginia. By recognizing companies that are pioneering best practices in plan design, employee training and education, internal communications, and other aspects of employee ownership, the sponsors hope that others can learn from the award winners.

BL Companies delivers integrated architecture, engineering, and related services to public and private clients for land development, building design, and infrastructure projects. The company effectively uses employee ownership to foster entrepreneurship and participation among employees, resulting in strength, sustainability and success.

A number of practices at BL Companies - including rigorous leadership development, structured business and ESOP communications, and constant training - help create a culture of innovation. Company leaders believe that these mutually reinforcing activities are necessary to gain sustained benefit.
