The "Engineering News-Record" has ranked BL Companies, based in Meriden, as 339th in the 2000 list of the Top 500 design firms in the United States. This list was published in the April 10th issue of the magazine. The rankings are based on revenue for architectural and engineering design services performed in 1999. BL Companies, which provides technical services related to architecture, engineering, planning/landscape architecture, survey, environmental and analytical sciences throughout the nation, rose nearly 50 positions from last year's ranking.
