At its Annual Dinner on Wednesday, June 6th at Mountainside, the club recognized members, volunteers and contributors with special awards. Students ranging in age from 6 through high school were honored for participation, leadership, academic achievement, moral character, and work ethic. Scholarships were awarded to several high school students planning to continue their education. The John Altobello Jr. Memorial Service award was bestowed upon the Meriden Rotary Club, the Meriden Public Library and Kevin Santoni. Marcia Trotta, Library Director, commented that establishment of a library at the Rotary Club was a rewarding project. Gary Burt, the club president, is happy to report that the membership has nearly doubled in the past year, providing service and safety for the city's children.
