Melinda J. Schoen, RN, BS, has been named Assistant Director of Nursing for Masonic Healthcare Center of Wallingford. Beatrice M. Coulombe, RN, MBA, Masonic Healthcare Center's Vice President for Patient Care Services, made the announcement. Ms. Schoen began her career with Masonic Healthcare Center as an LPN ten years ago. She furthered her education at St. Vincent's College and became an RN, then received a BS degree from Charter Oak State College. She is currently obtaining a Master's Degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix, which she expects to receive in 2007. Prior to her promotion, Ms. Schoen was Clinical Nurse Manager for one of the Center's three Short-Term Rehabilitation Units. As Assistant Director of Nursing, Ms. Schoen oversees nursing care at Masonic Healthcare Center, a 383-bed facility that provides long-term and dementia care, short-term rehabilitation, psychiatric and acute patient care. In making the announcement, Ms. Coulombe said, "With her many years of clinical experience and familiarity with the systems in place throughout Masonic Healthcare Center, Melinda was well positioned to assume this new role. She's a welcome addition to our management team and I look forward to working closely with her." Ms. Schoen is a member of The American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators. She and her husband, David, and their children reside in Wallingford.Masonic Healthcare Center is an affiliate of Masonicare, Connecticut's leading not-for-profit provider of senior healthcare and retirement living. Other Masonicare affiliates include Ashlar Village of Wallingford, Ashlar of Newtown in Newtown, and Connecticut VNA and The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, which are statewide.
